Eight Circuit Solicitor David Stumbo announced today that a 29 year-old Greenwood man has been convicted on drug distribution charges and sentenced to 13 years in prison. On Monday, Sherard Antonio Williams was scheduled for a jury trial on an indictment of Distribution of Crack Cocaine, 3rd offense. Williams pled guilty as charged to this indictment just prior to the start of the trial on Monday afternoon. The Honorable Frank R. Addy, Jr. accepted Williams’ plea and sentenced him to immediately begin a 13 year term in state prison. Because the offense is classified as violent under state law, Williams will have to serve 85% of his sentence before he is eligible for release.
